If $A$ and $B$ are two independent events such that $P(A)=\frac{1}{4}$ and $P(B)=\frac{2}{3}$ , then $P(A\cup B)$ is equal to

(A)	$\frac{11}{12}$
(B)	$\frac{1}{12}$
(C)	$\frac{3}{4}$
(D)	$\frac{5}{6}$

Answer / Solution

$P(A\cup B)=P(A)+P(B)-P(A) \times P(B)$
$P(A\cup B)=\frac{1}{4}+\frac{2}{3}-\frac{1}{4} \times \frac{2}{3}$
$P(A\cup B)=\frac{3}{4}$ (Ans)
